Mindbody

Mindbody is the most widely used software platform in boutique fitness and wellness, covering class scheduling, appointment booking, memberships, retail POS, and client management. It also runs a consumer marketplace (the Mindbody app) that drives new client discovery for studios. For franchise operators, Mindbody's breadth is both a strength and a limitation: it handles most day-to-day studio operations well, but multi-location reporting, franchisor-level visibility, and royalty workflows are not natively built for franchise system management. Many wellness franchisors standardize on Mindbody at the studio level and layer a separate tool for corporate reporting and royalty collection. Key questions: what does the API allow your franchisor-level dashboard to pull, how is multi-location billing structured, and what is the contract term and exit cost if you need to switch platforms.
